About Event

Come hang, eat & talk civic tech with the Leopard.FYI community and the GovWell team at their office (36th St. between 5th & 6th).

There’s no set agenda or required participation; it's just a low-key dinner and hang. That said, feel free to use this event as a safe space to chat about how we can make government work better through technology if it appeals!

About Leopard Events: Networking events can often be stressful, male-dominated, and not conducive to forming genuine connections. Leopard events provide a relaxed alternative, bringing together community members in a supportive and safe space <3 We’ll keep hosting large gatherings a few times a year (like the craft night in June), and we’re also starting smaller events with mission-aligned teams like this one!

About our Host, Govwell: Govwell is an early stage, NYC-based startup building AI workflows that help local governments deliver services more effectively. Their mission is simple & powerful: government should work better for the people it serves.

Govwell has ~30 employees (~30% women, LGBTQ & and non-binary folks). At the event you'll likely meet Ben (CTO), Amy (Data Engineering), Portia (Data Science), Marykate and Sarah (Founding Deployment Strategists), Eric (Software Engineering), David Ciano (Sales) and anyone else on the team who can make it!

Govwell is a Leopard partner (and is hiring!). They’re looking for team members who are motivated to help government services work better. Many issues in America, like the housing affordability crisis and aging infrastructure, are downstream of the government operating more efficiently. Their culture is described as "intense but kind" - it's a sports team, not a family, where every player is rowing in the same direction to achieve the team's mission. If you'd like an introduction to the team, let the Leopard team know and we'll share more info about their open roles, working norms/work life balance, interview process and more in slack!

Food: Enjoy beverages & lite bites from 12 Chairs Cafe. Email us if you have any dietary restrictions or allergies, but we typically make sure to offer a variety of options that are inclusive for Vegan, Gluten-Free, and Dairy-Free members.

Check this page as well as the c-leopard-local-ny Slack channel for updates (Lexi likes to blab as she plans lol). If you need slack access, email noems@leopard.fyi.

About Leopard.FYI: We connect women (trans & cis) and non-binary engineers to vetted companies with great cultures. Leopard gathers intel on company culture, compensation, gender diversity, interview processes, and more! We also run a free slack community for women/nb engineers to share, connect, backchannel, mentor and prepare for interviews together.
