join us for a hands-on visible mending workshop with textile artist siena faughnan, where you will learn the simple and satisfying art of darning to repair holes and reinforce worn areas in your favorite socks, scarves, and sweaters. in this cozy, beginner-friendly class, we’ll cover the basic stitching and weaving techniques using simple tools like needles, thread, and yarn, empowering you to extend the life of your clothes while adding a personal touch. by the end of the workshop you'll have the skills to repair and add flair to your knits, giving them new life and helping you embrace sustainable fashion. bring a hole-y sock or moth-nibbled sweater—no experience necessary!
meet the artist!
Siena Faughnan (She/Her) is a third-generation textile artist, painter, and educator from Colorado and New Jersey. She is a community-taught artist and has studied at Peters Valley Folk School, North House Folk School, the John Campbell Folk School, the Penland School of Craft, and the Textile Arts Center. She teaches art workshops with the Youth Art and Self-Empowerment Project and Little City Montessori, as well as community art spaces throughout Philadelphia and New York. Siena believes that creativity is for everyone and loves to give students of all levels the skills they need to explore, create, and have fun. In her free time, Siena loves quilting, painting, and spending time with her cat, Diesel.
