L&D Shakers Book Club: Changing on the Job
What if the leaders you're developing aren't resistant to change - they just haven't developed the mental complexity to navigate it?
In our next book club, we're exploring Changing on the Job by Jennifer Garvey Berger: a grounding, perspective-shifting read on how adults develop their ability to understand and navigate complexity, and what that means for how we develop leaders.
Themes we'll explore:
Forms of mind: How people make sense of the world through four stages of development, and why that changes how we coach, train, and support leaders
Assessing leaders: How our ability to hold multiple perspectives and who we treat as an authority shows which form of mind our leaders hold
What this means for us: Practical tools for evolving a leader's capacity for navigating complexity
We’ll start with a short overview, then share examples and reflect on examples from our own lives and work. Together, we'll explore what it looks like to create the conditions where every leader thrives through complexity, change, and uncertainty.
Whether you've read the whole book or just a few pages, you're very welcome to join.
✨ See you there! ✨
