In 1974, acclaimed photographer Peter Hujar spends a day recounting the routines, rituals, and chance encounters that make up an artist’s life to his friend, writer Linda Rosenkrantz. Through touching, funny, and deeply observant conversation, he reflects on everything from time spent with cultural figures like Allen Ginsberg, William S. Burroughs, and Susan Sontag to the texture and energy of downtown New York at its creative peak.
Directed by Ira Sachs (Passages), this elegant and intimate film transforms a single conversation into a captivating portrait of a time, a place, and the creative process itself. Anchored by remarkable performances from Ben Whishaw and Rebecca Hall, it’s a reminder that art often emerges from the smallest details of everyday life.
