Coastal Walk: Folkestone to Dover
Ready to trade the city hustle for breathtaking coastal views? Join us for an invigorating 8-mile hike along the stunning White Cliffs from Folkestone to Dover! We'll follow the scenic path, taking in dramatic cliffs, charming bays, and historical landmarks. The route offers a mix of terrain, some inclines, and truly spectacular vistas over the English Channel.
Train booking:
Use Trainline and book a Return from London St. Pancras to Dover Priory.
Outbound: 10:04am from London St. Pancras arriving in Dover Priory at 11:13pm
Return: 6:45pm from Dover Priory arriving in St. Pancras at 7:54pm
On the way there, we will get off one stop early at Folkestone Central. The tickets cost £29.89 with railcard, and £43.10 without.
What to Bring:
Sturdy walking shoes/boots (essential for the varied terrain)
Water (plenty!) & snacks (granola bars, fruits) for a mid-hike lunch.
Sunscreen & hat
And if you're feeling brave for a dip in the sea at the end... a swimsuit and a small towel!
Plan:
We will kick off our walk at 11:30pm from Folkestone, the walk is 2.5hrs long, and we will pause midway for a lunch break.
There is a beach at the end of the hike (Dover) for a swim!
We can buy some food and chill on the beach until heading back to Dover station for the 5:45pm train.
Note: with a super off-peak return, you can take any train back and there is a direct one every hour from Dover.
