​Mallika Ravikumar, an author published by Puffin, Hachette and Katha, is known for bringing Indian history, culture and real events to life for young readers.

​Her most recent book, The State League (ages 12 to 18, a sequel to her earlier book The District Cup), follows a young footballer, Prithvi, as he gets a shot at a glittering new youth league, with foreign scouts, European tours and big broadcasts on the table. But the league has a darker side. Matches are being fixed, players are being groomed, and the adults in charge are looking away. As the trail leads closer to home, Prithvi has to decide whether to stay silent and keep his place, or speak up and risk everything.

​The book is rooted in real issues in Indian youth sport, and Mallika will speak to how she researched it and why she chose to write it for this age group.
