Building Heat Resilience: Behaviour, Communities and Action | 3:00 PM IST
Extreme heat is one of the fastest-growing climate risks facing cities, particularly across the Global South. While proven solutions exist, from staying hydrated and responding to heat warnings to adopting passive cooling and heat-resilient buildings, their uptake depends on more than awareness alone. People's behaviours are shaped by their livelihoods, social norms, access to resources, and the environments in which they live and work.
This panel brings together experts in behavioural science, public health, urban planning, climate adaptation, and community engagement to explore the behaviours that strengthen heat resilience at individual, community, and systems levels. Through the lenses of community preparedness, the built environment, and early warning systems, panelists will discuss how governments, cities, employers, and communities can work together to make heat-safe behaviours practical, equitable, and sustainable.
