5 Ways Art Could Change the World (and many reasons it might not)
While synchronous attendance is encouraged, a ticket also entitles you to a recording of the session.
In a world overflowing with both grave political problems and algorithmically-generated images, can art change the world? Or is that a romantic myth?
In this interactive workshop meant for artists, activists, and interventionists, we’ll consider five possible ways art could contribute to political struggles, as well as difficulties that tend to arise when artists and movements try to do this.
Together (and individually), we’ll
Analyse whether art is good at motivating people, gathering them together, educating them, and more
consider where art-based strategies often fail, looking at empirical data
have a chance to make our own artistic plans based on our own particular ethos and theory of power
plan in advance for what frequently goes wrong
choose a strategy to change the world
Come TO THINK ABOUT GIANT QUILTS AND PUPPETS
STAY TO CONCRETISE YOUR POLITICAL STRATEGY
