About Event

Join Ruby Lerner (Founder, Creative Capital) and Noah Landow (Founder and CEO at Macktez) for an informal conversation between a legendary innovator for artists and the arts and the head of a technology consulting firm.

Ruby was the founding President and Executive Director of Creative Capital, a groundbreaking foundation that adapted the venture capital model to the arts. Under her leadership, Creative Capital deployed over $40 million in direct funding and advisory services, completely changing the paradigm of how artists are supported. Huge amounts of money pass through the arts and are invested in creative and innovative work, and the lines between product and design and commerce and investment are all intertwined and mutually impactful. She is known for her radical reimagining of arts philanthropy, moving beyond simple grants to build robust, sustainable careers for creators. She’ll draw on her decades of experience to offer a clear-eyed, real-world perspective on what is needed for art to thrive in the 21st century.

Join us at the Macktez office, after work, over light snacks and sips, for an exploratory conversation that will dismantle the "starving artist" myth. We will move from the fundamentals of project funding and financial management to the innovative business structures and community-building strategies that empower creative practice. This discussion will highlight how a strategic, entrepreneurial mindset is not a compromise of artistic integrity, but a crucial component of it.

Event Structure
We ask that guests arrive between 7-7:30 pm to minimize disruption during the talk.

7 pm - Doors open, opportunity to mingle over snacks and sips with other attendees
7:30 pm - Guests take their seats for the talk
8:15 pm - Informal mixer resumes

On Attendance
We have a limited capacity (and often have a long waitlist!). If your plans change, please update your registration so someone else can join.

A bit about Macktez, and why we host this series
Macktez is a technology consultancy collaborating with organizations going through dynamic change.

Our goal is to form a lasting partnership between our team and our clients, so we can anticipate their technology challenges and help them navigate growth, disruption, and other evolving conditions.

Each event in our Tête-à-Tech series is an opportunity to explore a specific cultural, scientific, historical, and personal issue. We fire at the synapses that connect each topic to other fields of interest and to our individual lives. And we do so in a comfortable environment to facilitate conversation that can be casual, surprising, and illuminating.
