About Event

A voice agent that works in the browser can still fail the moment it meets a real phone line. Calls connect but nobody hears anything, outbound dials bounce at authentication, and numbers get flagged as spam before the agent says a word.

In the second session of Murf Voice Circle's Masterclass series, Piyush Sahoo at Vobiz will follow a single phone call end to end, from the number that rings to the call record left behind.

The session covers:

  • The telephony stack: how carriers, the telephony layer and the agent platform fit together, and which layer to suspect first when something breaks

  • Inbound and outbound calls: phone numbers, SIP trunks, the SIP handshake, and why signalling (SIP) and audio (RTP) fail in different ways

  • SIP trunking vs WebSocket streaming: how each connects a call to your agent, and how to choose based on your stack, latency needs and control over barge-in

  • Latency and audio quality: the network's share of a ~500 ms conversational turn, codecs, and cleaning audio before it reaches speech-to-text

  • Live call control: voicemail detection, DTMF, recording, barge-in and warm transfers to a human

  • Operating at scale: debugging with call detail records, number reputation and spam labels, and India-specific compliance such as DND, DLT and KYC

  • A live call to a voice agent, and the most common ways telephony setups fail silently

Key Takeaways

  • A clear mental model of what happens on a phone call, from the first ring to the call record

  • How to choose between SIP trunking and WebSocket streaming for your agent and stack

  • A practical debugging order for telephony issues: signalling first, then media quality, then the model

  • What it takes to keep numbers answerable at scale, including India-specific compliance

Who Should Attend?

  • AI and software developers looking to integrate voice capabilities into existing applications.

  • Engineers and technical leads building, testing or scaling conversational AI systems.

  • Founders and product teams exploring voice as an interface for AI-powered products.

This is not a beginner-friendly session. Some familiarity with building AI-powered applications will help you get the most out of it.

Murf Voice Circle

Murf Voice Circle is where developers will come together to learn, exchange ideas and explore what's possible with voice AI.

This series of Masterclasses is just the beginning. We're planning more sessions featuring practical insights, technical deep dives and conversations with people building in the space.

Stay tuned. We're just getting started.
