About Event

Join us for an afternoon of hands-on learning at the Ottawa Riverkeeper’s Learning Lab, a vibrant space dedicated to understanding and protecting the Ottawa River and its watershed.

This workshop will be tailored to our group, diving into the topics that sparked the most interest:

  • 🔬 Discover the science of water testing and how we monitor the health of our river.

  • 🦠 Meet the benthic organisms that live on the riverbed and learn what these tiny creatures can tell us about water quality.

  • 🛶 If time permits, we’ll also explore the craftsmanship of birchbark canoes and their significance within Anishinaabe cultures and relationships with the watershed.

It’s a special opportunity to learn directly from the people who work every day to understand, monitor, and protect the Ottawa River.

🏊‍♀️ And afterward we’ll head down for a swim in the river! Bring your swimsuit if you’d like to join.

The Details:

Getting there:

  • 🚲 Plenty of bike parking is available on site

  • 🚗 Two parking lots are available: P3, directly across the parkway, has limited spaces. P4 is a larger lot, about a 5–10 minute walk farther east along the parkway.

Come learn, get curious, and connect with the river we share.
