Full Moon Foto Walk: Alki, West Seattle, WA
A photo walk, hosted by your Alki resident and photographer, Kate. Get ready for an amazing tour of the Alki Beach neighborhood. There will be truly something for every kind of photographer— landscape, wildlife, macro, street— the walk will culminate at the exact sunset time where we will capture the full Harvest Moon rising over the Seattle skyline & gather for drinks and food at Marination Makai.
What to expect
You'll spend about two hours walking through the Alki Beach neighborhood with other photographers from the Foto community. This photowalk will include a short shuttle ride to our final destination. Participants can choose to walk the entire way or hop FREE shuttle for part of the final route to witness the sunset and moonrise over the Seattle City skyline.
THEME:
This year's theme is contrast. Light against shadow, old against new, whatever catches your eye and won't let it go.
No experience needed. Bring any camera you own, phone included.

Duration: 2+ hours, 1.25-1.75 miles
Bring: Comfortable shoes, your camera(s), water, and a bit of cash for food or drinks
Cost: Free
Total walking distance for the first leg is just about 1.25 miles. Weather conditions, number of participants, and participant interests will impact the exact route we take.
4:00 - 4:15p.m. — Start Target: Meet at Birthplace of Seattle Monument. Gather for a group shot.
4:30 p.m. — Milestone: Arrive outside Alki Point Lighthouse for garden & street-level shots.
4:45 p.m. — Milestone: Arrive at Constellation Park.
4:55 p.m. — Neighborhood Detour: Depart the coast; zig-zag north via 64th/62nd Ave SW. Target 62nd & Stevens for cottage gardens and hidden corridors.
6:15 p.m. — Checkpoint & Re-group: Meet at Alki Coffee/Ben & Jerry’s.
6:20 p.m. — The Split: Walkers: Begin the 2 mile trek up the Alki Trail.
Shuttle Riders: Catch shuttle at 6:40 p.m. — Transit Departure: Route 775 Shuttle departs (arrives at Seacrest Marina at 6:48 p.m.). We may pop off the shuttle around Anchor Park and walk the rest of the way, just about 15 minutes to Marination.
6:44 p.m. — Horizon Event: Full Harvest Moon rises (East-Southeast sky turns pale pink).
6:52 p.m. — Horizon Event: Official Sunset. Dynamic skyline reflections from the trail.
7:05 p.m. — Final Destination: All parties arrive at Marination Ma Kai for dinner and blue hour Harvest Moon photography.
