Lack of Words Writing Club #11
Welcome to the Lack of Words Writing Club! Created and run by community member Juul, every month starts with a thought-provoking prompt.
You write up to 1,000 words - any genre, any style. Then we meet, read aloud, and give each other some honest feedback. From mushroom trips to family sagas, our conversations turn these friendly strangers into strange friends. The vibe is cozy. snacks on the table, wine in your glass.
Our Partnership:
This month we're partnering with Rebel Wines for a special edition of Lack of Words. The team at Rebel Wines will select a red and white wine pairing to match this month's theme.
Your ticket includes 1 glass of wine, with additional glasses available for purchase.
October Prompt: The Anglerfish
In the deep sea, female anglerfish can grow many times larger than the males. The deep sea is so sparsely populated that anglerfish rarely encounter another of their own kind, which makes finding a mate difficult. A male may spend much of his life searching. When he finds a mate, he bites onto her body and holds on.
In some species, their tissues begin to fuse. Their blood vessels connect. Over time, the male loses parts of his own body and becomes permanently attached to hers, sharing bloodstreams and remaining attached for reproduction.
For this edition, the anglerfish is our starting point. Find your own meaning in this animal, and write from there. Write up to 1,000 words, in any genre or form you like: poetry, fiction, nonfiction, essay, screenplay, short story, or anything in between.
