The Provost's Sustainability Challenge
The Provost's Sustainability Challenge, delivered by the Trinity Entrepreneurship Hub @Trinity Business School in collaboration with https://zeeus.org, brings Trinity students from different disciplines together for one day to tackle social and environmental challenges, develop ideas and turn them into practical solutions.
You don’t need an idea, a team or previous entrepreneurship experience.
Come along, choose a challenge that interests you, meet other students and form a team on the day.
Choose Your Challenge
You’ll work on one of four challenge areas inspired by the UN Sustainable Development Goals:
People & Wellbeing — health, wellbeing, equality, inclusion and education (SDGs 3, 4, 5, 10)
Sustainable Communities — cities, mobility, housing and inclusive communities (SDG 11)
Responsible Consumption — food, waste, consumption and circular economy (SDGs 2, 12)
Climate & Nature — climate action, biodiversity, water and ecosystems (SDGs 6, 13, 14, 15)
What Happens on the Day?
After choosing your challenge area and forming a team, you’ll work through a practical innovation process:
Understand the challenge and identify a problem worth solving
Define the specific problem your team wants to tackle
Ideate and explore possible solutions
Develop your strongest idea
Prototype your solution in a simple, practical way
Refine its potential impact and feasibility
Pitch your solution at the end of the day
This is a hands-on challenge, so expect to spend most of the day creating and working with your team rather than sitting through presentations.
What Will You Create?
By the end of the day, your team will have:
A clearly defined sustainability problem
A proposed solution
A simple prototype
Key assumptions to explore further
A three-minute final pitch
Your prototype doesn’t need to be a finished product. It could be a mock-up, storyboard, service concept, physical model, campaign, process or another simple way of showing how your idea could work.
How Will Ideas Be Judged?
Ideas will be evaluated on:
Potential for Impact — 25%
Challenge Alignment — 20%
Innovative Approach — 20%
Feasibility — 20%
Human-Centred Design — 15%
Awards and Recognition
All participants will receive a digital participation badge (certificate), with additional recognition for finalist and winning teams:
Winner – 500 euro
Runner-Up – 300 euro
Third Place - 200 euro
What Happens Afterwards?
Promising teams will have opportunities to continue developing their ideas through the Trinity Entrepreneurship Hub, including access to various infrastructure and ongoing mentoring.
Ideas that continue to develop may also have the potential to progress towards LaunchBox 2027.
All participants will receive a digital participation badge, with additional recognition and prizes for selected teams.
Who Can Join?
The challenge is open to Trinity students from all disciplines and levels of study.
Whether you study engineering, humanities, business, science, health, arts or something completely different, your perspective can bring something valuable to the team.
No idea required. No team required. Just bring your curiosity and willingness to work with others.
