Transit Books Presents: Our Party in the Forest
For the last decade, Transit Books has been publishing award-winning literature from around the world, fostering cultural conversations, and hosting events in the Bay Area and beyond. This October, we're hosting our 2nd Annual Big Fall Fundraiser to celebrate the transformative power of international literature—and how great our community is at themed dress-up parties.
Tickets include 2 drinks and artisanal pizza (because pizza is our love language). All donations to Transit Books will support 20 new books in 2027—including new works from Japan, Colombia, Turkey, Norway, and two Undelivered Lectures from Bay Area authors.
We can't resist a book theme, and we're taking our cue this year from our fall title Our Life in the Forest by Marie Darrieussecq, translated from the French by Penny Hueston, about a woman writing from a forest encampment at the end of the world, in the unsatisfying company of her clone. There are many ways you can interpret this dress theme—high foliage, fall colors, branchy headgear, verdant suits, something with mushrooms, something nymph-like, or coordinating something of your choosing with your clone. The only strict sartorial rule is that you come in whatever you feel good in.
We hope to see you (and maybe your clone) there.
