Jennifer Friedenbach, Executive Director, Coalition on Homelessness — Jennifer has worked at the Coalition on Homelessness for 31 years, working across organizing, substance abuse and mental health, and fundraising. She has a long history of community organizing on poverty-related issues including housing, welfare rights, healthcare, and civil rights. Her achievements include co-crafting Prop C Our City Our Home, creating a local housing subsidy serving hundreds of homeless families, and spearheading legislative reforms protecting the rights of homeless people.
Joe Wilson, Executive Director, Hospitality House — Joe has led Hospitality House since 2017, having previously served in several leadership roles there. He was a founding member of the Coalition on Homelessness in 1987 and co-founded the Coalition for Ethical Welfare Reform in 1996. He has held senior roles at AFSCME and Coleman Advocates for Children & Youth, where he secured nearly $140 million for children and working families. Joe is also a former shelter resident and volunteer at Hospitality House.
Armando Bravo Martinez, Community Advocate — Armando graduated with a master’s degree in International Relations. He is a two-time Ford Foundation Senior Fellow at the World Policy Institute at the New School in New York. For over a decade, he has worked as a private caregiver supporting patients with early-onset dementia, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and stroke. He is a proud member of the Bernal Heights RV Community and the Coalition on Homelessness.
Moderator: Madison Alvarado, Investigative Journalist, San Francisco Public Press — Madison is a reporter based in San Francisco who is interested in California's housing crisis, environmental justice and structural inequities. In addition to her reporting on public housing and rent relief at the Public Press, she has covered issues related to the coronavirus pandemic, housing and city government for San Francisco news site Mission Local.
