Major Transit Station Area Consultations + Social
What is this consultation about?
We’re heading to a City of Toronto public consultation on Major Transit Station Areas (MTSAs), one of the most important housing policy changes in the city in the past decade. These consultations are the final step before Toronto passes zoning rules that will allow significantly more homes near subway, LRT, and GO stations across the city.
Major Transit Station Areas are areas around rapid transit where cities are required to allow more housing and jobs. In Toronto, MTSAs enable a mix of housing types, including high-rises close to stations, mid-rise apartments, and missing-middle housing within walking distance. This is a major shift toward letting more people live near transit.
The Province has already approved these plans. What’s left is for City Council to pass the zoning to implement them before the August 2026 deadline.
After: Informal Social at Firkin on Yonge
After the consultation, we’re heading to Firkin on Yonge to grab a bite or a drink and keep chatting.
