About Event

If GenAI creates hallucinations in writing and research, leads to deskilling, and produces overconfident workslop, then what about computer code? Computer programming with AI reached a new hype level after Andrej Karpathy coined the term vibe coding in March 2025. AI evangelists now claim that you don't need to learn how to code anymore while skeptics argue that it generates more issues than solutions and are banning or limiting it in their projects. This workshop will test and look at the debate around vibe coding through discussion, hands-on activities, and software engineering concepts and practices like accidental versus essential complexity, debugging methods, and social computing to see what, if any, place vibe coding might responsibly have in your coding, research, and learning processes.

Coding knowledge and experience are not required for the workshop but maybe you'll learn that it is needed if you want to vibe code effectively.

This workshop is planned to take place in-person only (Milstein 516).

We look forward to seeing you there!
