Planetary Mutations - Info Session
Planetary Mutations — Information Session
We can't navigate the future with a map drawn for a world that no longer exists.
We're told this is an age of disruption. Climate crisis. Technological upheaval. Political unravelling. Planetary Mutations offers a different way to see it.
Not crisis management. Not sustainability — as if the task were to sustain a broken system. Not adapting to change.
This is a sense-making journey through the post-Holocene shift.
Come and find out what that means, and whether it's for you.
What the course is
Nine conceptual vignettes that reorient us for epic times:
🌍 The Post-Holocene World — deep time understanding, aligning decisions with the scale of millennia 🔄 The Planetary Commons — our life-support systems as collective responsibility 🌱 The Web of Life — from dominance to interbeing, from consumers to protectors 💬 A Dialogue of Civilisations — epistemic humility, a pluralistic future 🔓 The Digital Commons — beyond technofeudalism, toward infrastructure as public good 🤝 Translocal Solidarities — new political geographies across cities and regions ⚖️ New Political Contracts — dismantling plutocracies, restoring accountability 🧵 The Loom of Culture — weaving new stories and vocabularies ❤️ Infrastructures of Care — value reimagined as provisioning for life
How it works — two practices, one living map
A dialogic process. Each theme opens with propositions about planetary mutation, pitched with enough edge to be worth arguing with. Participants take them apart together — tearing down, reworking, naming what's missing — then we work toward synthesis. The propositions we end with are never the ones we started with. The mutation isn't only the subject matter; it's the method.
A participatory mapping process. Using uMap, we build a shared planetary map of mutation — coded not just by what, but by when across deep time, and where across the globe. This isn't scanning for next quarter's trends. It's locating signals inside long arcs, planet-wide. And it keeps growing between sessions, so the map is a living artefact by the end, co-authored by everyone in the room.
Who it's for
People who think in generations rather than quarters. Who suspect no single worldview holds all the answers. Who know their own health is inseparable from planetary integrity. Who want to move from watching systemic crisis to actively weaving new political, economic and cultural threads through it.
At this session
I'll walk through the nine vignettes, demonstrate the dialogic and mapping methods, and answer whatever you want to ask. Come curious. Bring your scepticism — it's the right instinct for this material, and you'll get plenty of use out of it in the course itself.
