About the workshop
Nonprofits are being asked to do more with less. AI can drive large efficiency gains. Used irresponsibly, it can harm your reputation and the people you serve.
This hands-on workshop covers how to use Anthropic's Claude models responsibly. You work on your own organization's materials or our sample nonprofit kit, with help on the spot. Attendance is capped at 20.
Session 1, 8:30-10:00 AM: Foundations
Learn how AI models work and why they are sometimes confident but wrong
Decide when not to use AI and protect sensitive data when you do
Draft an AI use policy that holds up to board scrutiny
Tour Claude desktop's features
Practice prompting techniques that get reliable results
Compare Claude models and effort settings on quality, speed and cost
Session 2, 10:15 AM-12:00 PM: Workflow Lab
Find foundations that fit your work using connectors
Draft a grant proposal from your existing materials, tailored to one funder
Build a reusable grant-writing skill
Find lapsed donors in sample data and draft individualized appeals with Claude Cowork
Turn program data into board and impact reports
Set up scheduled workflows, such as weekly gift acknowledgment drafts and a monthly board update
