Seminar: The Neuroscience of Calm with Amber Case
Metagov Research Director Amber Case is the founder of the Calm Tech Institute. Calm Technology is a process for designing technology that works with human attention, instead of against it.
Case argues that modern technology is leading to a “loss of dimensionality” in our environments. Our tools, she says, are becoming flat and textureless, yet they’re demanding more of our attention than ever. So Case suggests designers should not only focus on how technology looks, but also on how it feels. This talk will cover how to add dimensionality back to tech, and how Calm Tech Certified™'s 81 point criteria creates economic and social incentives to make products that support human-centered design.
