BARRACA 004 • DUTY OF CARE
Si quieres colaborar, escríbenos a hola@barraca.house 🫡

🇺🇸 An AI can write the code or read the scan. The signature is still a person's.

The last session of the year is about AI when someone has to answer for it: in a hospital, and in code. Two half-hour talks, both from the inside. As always, questions don't interrupt: they're saved for the after.
Ana Jiménez Pastor is VP of Science at Quibim, the València company, founded in 2012, that builds AI to help read medical images, with software certified for hospitals in Europe, the UK and the US. She is a telecommunications engineer with a PhD in AI applied to medical imaging from the Universitat Politècnica de València, and she leads the company's AI research and innovation.
Cris Carrascosa is a lawyer and the CEO of ATH21, the firm she founded in 2021 as Spain's first specialising in blockchain and cryptocurrency, which now advises technology and digital-asset companies. She sat on the European Commission's Blockchain Observatory working group and teaches at IE Law School and EDEM. She's coming to talk about what changes when AI writes part of the software, and what the people who build it can be held responsible for.

The questions that don't fit in half an hour get answered here, standing up, with a beer.
WHAT YOU CAN ASK
Anything. How you train and validate a model that reads MRI scans, what it takes for a hospital to use it and what the radiologist still decides. And on the other side, who answers when code an AI wrote fails in production, what the person who signs it off is answerable for, and what changes for a team that already works that way.
Questions don't interrupt the talk; they're saved for the after, standing up and with a beer, which is where they get answered properly.
WHO'S IN THE ROOM
Seventy-five people, fifteen more places than ever before: founders, engineers, product people and people putting AI into something that matters. The room grows slowly on purpose, so you can still talk to anyone in it.
HOW TO GET IN
Guest list only, and the door is free. Applying isn't admission: the guest list is closed by hand, session by session, and we always write back.
THE HOUSE
BARRACA Founders House is the house València's founders and builders come back to. Numbered sessions, small groups and the same faces coming back.

The talks are in Spanish. The room runs in Spanish and English; people switch mid-sentence and nobody minds.
