BKKCAW 2026 | Powering Growth, Polluting Communities

​Across Asia, communities are increasingly raising concerns about the air pollution and public health impacts associated with gas-fired power plants. While these projects are often presented as part of the energy transition, affected communities continue to face questions around air quality, environmental monitoring, public participation, and accountability. Many organisations across the region are working on similar challenges, but opportunities for cross-border learning and collaboration remain limited.

​This event will bring together community advocates, civil society organisations, researchers, and campaigners from Asia to share experiences and lessons from campaigns addressing gas-power pollution and community health impacts. Through a short panel discussion and breakout sessions, participants will explore how communities are responding to pollution concerns, compare approaches to monitoring and accountability, and identify opportunities for collaboration.
