The Art of Midlife #6: Longing, on what we should do with our hunger
Oakland artist Carissa Potter recently asked Savala Nolan what it would mean “to treat yourself with the same devotion you've spent years pouring outward — to be as attentive to your own hunger as you've been to everyone else's.” That question anchors this conversation between writers and friends Eirinie Carson and Savala Nolan. Eirinie is the author of the memoir The Dead Are Gods and the maternal gothic novel, Bloodfire, Baby. Her work moves through sexual taboo, death, and haunting, real and imagined. Savala is the author of Good Woman: A Reckoning, a memoir about midlife awakening and the joy and pleasures of defying expectations. Together they’ll talk about desire, longing, sexuality and what’s on the other side of being good.
