Code Club #6: Developers Are Optional. Architects Aren't.
❤️ What happens when a systems architect who neither enjoys programming nor has much experience in it gets access to a sufficiently smart LLM?
A greenhouse hobby project that had been sitting around for years turned into a full IoT agronomy fleet management system with enterprise ambitions, not after months of conventional software development, but in a matter of weeks.
In this session, Domagoj Piškur will walk through how AI transformed a ten year side project into a serious, enterprise oriented FOSS system. The focus is not on prompt tricks or generated code for its own sake, but on architecture: defining the system, decomposing the problem, making technology choices, setting boundaries between components, and using AI to implement against a clear technical model.
We will look at what worked unexpectedly well, where the model needed strong architectural guidance, and which parts still required engineering judgement. The result may be uncomfortable for developers and encouraging for everyone else: with capable AI in the loop, knowing what to build, how the pieces should interact and where the failure modes are can matter more than being the person who types every line of code. 💙
