WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION:

​"Si me permiten hablar" is a free, 90 minute, bilingual (ENG/SPA) poetry-writing workshop exploring the ethos of servant leadership through the work of Bolivian mine worker and activist Domitila Barrios de Chungara. Participants will discuss source materials, respond to timed prompts, and share their work.

​“Si me permiten hablar” es un taller gratuito de escritura poética de 90 minutos, bilingüe (inglés/español), que explora la filosofía del liderazgo de servicio a través de la obra de la activista y trabajadora minera boliviana Domitila Barrios de Chungara. Los participantes analizarán materiales de referencia, responderán a consignas con límite de tiempo y compartirán sus trabajos.

​Paige Savarese is a tradeswoman and poet born and based in Chicago. She is the creator of Brighton Park Poets, a free, bilingual (ENG/SPA) poetry-writing workshop series on Chicago’s Southwest side.

​☀️From August to November, Southwest Creative Studio transforms into an immersive, community-curated museum honoring the people who have shaped Chicago—and inspired change around the world.

​☀️Created and curated in partnership with the International Servant Leaders Museum , Chicago-section curated in collaboration with Former Deputy Minister of Education for the Illinois chapter of the Black Panther Party, Billy Ché Brooks and The Historical Preservation Society: Illinois Chapter of the Black Panther Party and made possible through the City of Chicago DCASE's Neighborhood Access Grant and We Like Clean.

​☀️This three-month exhibition invites everyone to learn, reflect, connect, and discover how service can transform our communities.

​☀️Through interactive exhibits, local stories, artifacts, workshops, teach-ins, and hands-on experiences, Seeds of Service celebrates servant leadership in action while investing in the next generation of changemakers.
