What if the future of your business were already visible, but you were simply looking in the wrong direction?
In this 90-minute workshop, we'll step into the world of Strategic Foresight, starting from a very practical question: how can we recognize what is emerging before it becomes obvious to everyone else?
After a short introduction to Futures Studies and Strategic Foresight, we'll work with Bill Sharpe's Three Horizons framework, focusing in particular on two key perspectives for entrepreneurs, innovators and changemakers: innovation and vision.
This September, the Italian Institute for the Future Foundation will host Bill Sharpe at its 2026 Futures Studies Conference, including a dedicated Three Horizons Masterclass and keynote — The Foundation also promotes the Italian edition of his book Three Horizons: The Patterning of Hope, enriched with cases and applications of the framework in Italy.
We won't try to predict the future. Instead, we'll learn how to look at the present from different perspectives, recognize signals of change, and begin to distinguish what belongs to today's business from what could become tomorrow's opportunity.
The second part of the workshop will be hands-on. Through a guided exercise, you'll start exploring possible and speculative futures for your business, startup, project or idea.

FONDAZIONE IIF — Italian Institute for the Future
The Italian Institute for the Future (IIF) is a non-profit foundation and one of Italy's leading reference points for Futures Studies and Strategic Foresight. Since 2013, IIF has been promoting a culture of anticipation and Futures Literacy through research, education, consulting and public engagement, working with companies, institutions and communities to explore emerging trends, understand long-term change and develop more informed and resilient strategies for the future. Every year, the Foundation organizes its international Futures Studies Conference, bringing together futurists, researchers, practitioners and experts to explore emerging challenges and long-term transformations. Gloria Puppi is a Strategic Foresight consultant, immersive storyteller, lecturer and speaker. Her work combines Futures Studies, Design Fiction and storytelling to help organizations explore possible futures and translate emerging change into scenarios, strategies, products and services. She is an Advisory Board member of the Fondazione IIF, founder of Read My Script, and creator of the Futurize Me methodology.
