About Event

The maps, dashboards, and data that drive many public sector services - known as the GIS work - has historically been conducted by highly technical staff using commercial software. Governing decisions about everything from waste management and community health, to traffic planning and community development rely on GIS. However, the many lines of GIS work are often overlooked from a user perspective and are treated independently, rather than as a holistic approach. This is where user research and service design can benefit from GIS work.

Does this sound like you?

  • "We build powerful dashboards, but our end-users still struggle to find what they need."

  • "Our GIS tools work well individually, but they don't feel like a part of a unified service."

  • "I want to do user research, but I’m not sure how to apply it to technical data products."

Why you should join?

Master translating complex spatial data into intuitive digital services. You’ll walk away with a practical Service Design toolkit that reduces support tickets and improves engagement.

Move beyond "technical delivery" to "service excellence." You’ll gain the confidence to lead co-design sessions that align your GIS outputs with the real-world needs of public servants and citizens.

Bring your curiosity and questions as we dive into the world of service design and GIS!

*We are keeping these sessions intimate (max 10 people) to ensure everyone can actively participate in the prototyping and research activities. If more registrants are waitlisted, we will open additional sessions as the waitlist fills and announce a new date.
