π¨ Maker Circle π¨
βWhat π¨
βThe Maker Circle, a group within the Builder's Guild, caters to individuals eager to immerse themselves in the physical world. Our community thrives on two core themes:
βInternally, fostering confidence and intentional interactions with the spaces we inhabit, and externally, building a cohort of neighbors who support one another, reminiscent of the helpful neighbor with a truck, the whiz with a sewing machine, or the friend always equipped with a ladder.
βWeekly Structure ποΈ
βEach week in the Maker Circle is a celebration of skill-sharing and project showcases. Emphasizing collaborative learning, one or more members volunteer to teach their chosen skill, with the method and means determined by the teacher and supported by the community. As an initial example, Michael J will lead the first skill-sharing seminar, encouraging future volunteers and occasionally filling in as needed.
βWhile teaching is not mandatory for participation, it is warmly encouraged, fostering a culture of shared knowledge and inclusivity.
βAfter the introductory skill share, members of the circle are invited to share either a project they have been working on or present a challenge that needs solving.
βWho Should Join πͺ
βWhether you identify or want to identify as a tinkerer, needleworker, homemaker, chef, mechanic, or engage in various trades, the Maker Circle is intended to unite diverse talents in a collaborative environment. It's a space where skills are shared, projects are celebrated, and members actively contribute to each other's growth and the vibrancy of the Maker Circle. Join us in shaping a community reminiscent of good neighbors, where every skill, whether learned or shared, enriches the collective experience.
βSafety π¦Ί
βWhile the Maker Circle thrives on the excitement of hands-on activities and physical projects, especially during demonstrations, members are reminded to prioritize safety at all times. Bringing in the actual tools of the trade can add an extra layer of enjoyment to our gatherings, but it's essential to exercise best judgment and remain mindful of potential safety hazards.
βWe encourage all members to make safety a cornerstone of Maker Circle events. Understanding and adhering to safety guidelines ensures that our activities remain enjoyable and risk-free. A comprehensive Code of Conduct will be provided to members, outlining these safety considerations and other guidelines. This ensures that every participant is well-informed about the limitations and expectations, fostering an environment where we can all have a great, safe day.
βAt the Maker Circle, safety is not just a priority β it's a shared responsibility. By practicing caution and abiding by the established guidelines, we can create an environment where creativity flourishes without compromising the well-being of our members. Let's make every Maker Circle event a celebration of creativity and safety, where everyone can actively participate and enjoy the experience.
