Climate Solutions Are Affordability Solutions: An Illinois Case Study

​For the first time more Americans say they are struggling than thriving. Families’ day-to-day costs keep rising with little relief on the horizon. Higher bills are concentrated in 4 areas– energy, transportation, housing and insurance. The affordability crisis and climate crisis have the same causes– fossil fuels spurred 40% of the inflation Americans experienced in the early 2020’s according to Moody’s and the Iran war is sending energy bills higher again. Fortunately, the same solutions solve both problems– policy levers can lower costs for families and businesses while cutting climate pollution.

​Climate Cabinet is excited to be moderating a panel of experts and legislators to discuss what is being done in Illinois at the intersection of climate and affordability. Attendees would learn about the core subject areas, how to win legislatively, implement meaningful and lasting policy, and develop relationships and work in coalitions across the climate movement.
