Every conversion in your observability pipeline costs compute and adds complexity, yet most systems parse and re-encode logs three or four times before a query even runs. This talk covers a zero-conversion alternative with Arrow from emit to query. It spans OTel schema design, batched ingestion, and a multi-tenant SQL layer for humans and AI agents.
Scientific Computing on Multi-Dimensional Arrays in DuckDB with XQL

Did you know that any Nd array can be represented as a 2d table? We exploit this fact to transform scientific datasets into a tabular representation that can be queried with SQL. This insight underlies the project we're building at https://xql.systems. In this talk, I'll present DuckDB-Zarr and Xarray-SQL. I'll demonstrate how scientific computing and data science is made significantly better with SQL on DuckDB.
