About Event

Of all seed-funded startups, only 17% make it to Series A. Of all companies that try to raise Series A, about 20% end up successfully raising the round. Based on Metal's Datadesk, Series A rounds also tend to take a lot longer than earlier stage rounds (more than 6 months on average).

In this session, we dissect two Series A rounds that recently came together and go deeper into how they sequenced investor conversations, what changed between the first pitch and the term sheet, and how they kept momentum when the process ran longer than planned.

We focus on the two questions that matter most:

  • The Process — How did these rounds actually get done? Timelines, investor targeting, managing parallel conversations, and the moments that moved investors from interested to committed;

  • The Mistakes — What did they get wrong along the way, what would they run differently, and what do founders consistently underestimate about the Series A process?

There'll be time for Q&A at the end for founders who want an honest read on where they stand.

Speakers:

  • Steven Plappert — Co-Founder & CEO, Forecastr: Steven recently closed a $7M Series A for Forecastr. Forecastr is a financial modelling software and is used by 550+ startups globally. Till date, Forecastr has raised $17M+.

  • Marissa Fayer — CEO, DeepLook Medical: Marissa is a medtech executive, investor, and author. She also serves on various investment committees. Marissa has helped take DeepLook Medical from concept through FDA clearance to commercialization, and recently closed the Series A round with participating from prominent healthcare investors.
