TRAILS Annual Retreat: Connect, Reflect, and Chart What's Next
This year's retreat is your opportunity to help shape the future of TRAILS. Beyond connecting with potential collaborators and discussing accomplishments and work in progress, you'll help steer where the Institute goes next, including through:
Strategizing stakeholder engagement: We will discuss which stakeholder groups involved in the development, deployment, use, and governance of AI TRAILS is best positioned to inform through its research and support through its broader impacts activities. We will identify and prioritize resources to develop, programming to offer, practitioner channels to reach, and organizations to partner with to increase our impact on practice.
Envisioning TRAILS 2.0: Over the last three years, TRAILS has fruitfully explored the broad landscape of trustworthy AI. As our site-visit external evaluators reminded us earlier this summer, the Institute is now ready to decide where we can make our greatest contribution, what we want to be known for around the world, and how to turn this more focused vision into reality. Our discussion at the retreat will inform our renewal negotiations with NSF and NIST as we approach the end of our first five-year funding cycle.
We will also have 90 minutes of unstructured time to discuss research and project ideas with other attendees.
