​Uncharted Office Hours is a live, interactive career conversation for Senior, Staff, and Principal Software Engineers. Mid-level Engineers who are navigating similar questions are also welcome.

​Bring a real career challenge, decision, pattern, or piece of feedback you would like help thinking through. Shine Garg will answer questions, coach a few attendees live, and help uncover the deeper pattern beneath the visible problem.

​A question about promotion may reveal a gap in context, influence, or self-advocacy. Difficulty shaping a technical decision may involve trust, framing, or stakeholder alignment. Resistance to delegating may be connected to identity, confidence, or how you have learned to prove your value.

​The goal is to help you understand what is actually happening, distinguish the signal from the noise, and identify a useful next step.

​How the session works

​We will begin with a brief framing from Shine, followed by open office hours.

​You may submit a question when you register or bring one to the live session. Shine will select several questions to explore in depth, with room for follow-up and reflection.

​You are also welcome to attend quietly and learn from the situations other engineers bring.

​The session will close with one question:

​What is one action you will take after this conversation?

​Depending on attendance and the depth of the conversations, not every question may be addressed.

​Who this is for

​This event is designed primarily for Senior, Staff, and Principal Software Engineers navigating questions about career growth, promotion, influence, visibility, technical leadership, confidence, or direction.

​Mid-level Engineers working through similar challenges are also welcome to join.

​Current coaching clients are welcome to join, with the conversation facilitated to make room for multiple questions and perspectives.

​It may be especially useful when the visible problem is clear, but the standard advice does not seem to address what is actually holding you back.
