Join the Black Student Union, Stanford Energy Club, and Tech for Liberation for an interactive workshop on the Democratic Republic of Congo's critical role in the global fight against climate change. Together, we’ll explore how student leaders can ensure the green transition doesn’t come at the expense of Congolese communities.

​In collaboration with Silicon Valley supply chain expert Dr. Kimberly Harrison, along with human rights and environmental justice advocates, we’ll unpack the extractive systems fueling “green” technologies—electric vehicles, solar panels, smartphones—and the cost borne by Congolese people and ecosystems.

​The Congo Basin Rainforest, the world’s second largest, sequesters more carbon than all other tropical rainforests combined. Yet this vital ecosystem is under assault. Multinational corporations and foreign powers are polluting rivers, displacing communities, and extracting critical minerals from Congolese soil—all in the name of sustainability.

​This workshop invites participants to engage at a critical frontier that demands innovation, solidarity, and justice. Whether you’re new to these issues or deeply engaged, all are welcome to be in community with us.
