On the occasion of World Refugee Day, MEP Catarina Vieira (Greens/EFA) is pleased to invite you to a screening of Lost Land (Harà Watan), a powerful and moving film that offers a rare glimpse into the lived experiences of the Rohingya people through the eyes of children.
The film follows nine-year-old Somira and her four-year-old brother Shafi, who leave a refugee camp in Bangladesh and set out on a long and uncertain journey towards Malaysia in the hope of reuniting with their family. Featuring more than 200 Rohingya non-professional actors, Lost Land is a story of courage, resilience, and the universal search for home and belonging.
The film screening will be followed by a panel discussion and audience Q&A, providing an opportunity to reflect on the film and the experiences and challenges faced by Rohingya community. We will be joined by Simona Popan – Deputy Head of Division for Southeast Asia, ASIAPAC.3, EEAS, Mujibul Hasan - Rohingya community representative, and Claudio Francavilla – Associate EU Director, HRW, with the discussion moderated by MEP Catarina Vieira.
