The Creation of Éa
The Winter Solstice, shortest day and longest night, has been celebrated since ancient times in many ways around the world.
At this gathering we honor diverse traditions of ritual, reverence, reverie and revelry.
“I wish I could show you,
when you are lonely or in darkness,
the Astonishing Light
of your own Being!”

Killah Priest (Wu Tang's Mystic Priest)
Killah Priest made his first appearances on such Wu-Tang side and solo projects as Gravediggaz’ 6 Feet Deep, Ol’ Dirty Bastard’s Return to the 36 Chambers, and Genius/GZA’s seminal Liquid Swords. His contributions to those releases — especially Liquid Swords’ “B.I.B.L.E. (Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth),” essentially a Priest solo track — paved the way for the release of the MC’s acclaimed debut album, 1998’s Heavy Mental, and a lengthy and respected career in the hip-hop underground. In addition to his prolific solo work, he was an integral member of the groups Sunz of Man, the HRSMEN (aka the Four Horsemen), and Black Market Militia. Killah Priest recently released his new album, Abraxas 2.
Dervish Aziz and Anna Whirling (Sufi Whirling)
Aziz Abbatiello was raised in an American Mevlevi family, as he started to walk the path of the mystics following in the tradition of the Sufi. He was initiated as Semazen in 1996, and has made Sema with several Sufi groups in America and abroad. Anna Whirling is from Ukraine. In the beginning of the war she moved to Turkey and then came to USA. Anna has been practicing whirling all her life since childhood. She has performed on stage with different groups for 20 years.
Soriah (Avant-Shamanic Throat Singing)
“The Tuvan throat singing phenomenon that is SORIAH will take you to that holy place whenever you lend an ear to his music.” – David J (Bauhaus, Love and Rockets, Night Crickets)
Soriah is the stage persona of Enrique Ugalde, an internationally-acclaimed throat singer and ritual artist who generates experimental soundscapes where ancient traditions are revealed through the lens of modern experience. Birthed in one of the most historically isolated locations on the planet, Tuvan throat singing is a musical sound like no other. Mysterious, primordial and awash in a deeply visceral drone, it invokes the full range of the natural world – from deep mountain roots to the whistle of birds in flight. Soriah weaves Tuvan throat singing, pre-Columbian sounds, classical Indian raga, and modern Western styles, looping and processing his voice and traditional instruments into lush sonic tapestries. His lyrics are often written in Nahuatl (Mexica/Aztec) or Tuvan, preserving and expressing cultural mysteries with reverence and wonder.
