According to the World Migration Report 2022, there are 281 million international migrants and 55 million internally displaced persons worldwide. Yet, access to financial services remains a challenge:

3.2 billion people still lack mobile internet access.
Fewer than two-thirds of refugee households own mobile phones.
Women — especially migrants — face the steepest barriers to financial inclusion.

That’s why the SHIFT Program (Scaling Holistic Inclusion in Fintech Transformation), funded and supported by ILF for GIF, through financing from the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), and the Austrian Development Agency (ADA)- the operational unit of the Austrian Development Cooperation. The program is looking growth-stage fintechs in Sub-Saharan Africa, MENA, and Asia to scale gender-inclusive financial solutions for women affected by migration.
