Chris White is a producer, writer, and creative technologist known for bold, genre-defining work in horror, science fiction, and next-generation filmmaking.
He began his career in 2009 as a network producer on MTV’s My Super Psycho Sweet 16, a surprise cult hit that reimagined reality-TV excess through a slasher lens. Chris helped shepherd the project from concept to screen, and its success led to two sequels—cementing Super Psycho as one of MTV’s defining horror franchises. The experience shaped his trajectory as a producer drawn to unconventional storytelling operating within mainstream systems.
In 2013, Chris joined The Collective, a prominent Los Angeles–based management and
production company, where he oversaw production and acquisitions for its Salient Media division. During his tenure, he executive produced and co-produced V/H/S: Viral (2014), the third installment in the influential horror anthology series, and curated titles for the genre label Bloody Disgusting Selects.
In 2019, Chris created and produced Portals, a science-fiction anthology exploring dimensional collapse, featuring segments directed by the filmmakers behind The Blair Witch Project, Nobody 2 (from the director of The Night Comes for Us), and Beyond Skyline. He followed this with DOORS (2021), a formally experimental, philosophically driven sci-fi feature released globally by Epic Pictures. While both projects polarized audiences, they reinforced Chris’s commitment to creative risk and to expanding the expressive language of genre cinema.
Chris also serves as an executive producer on The Backrooms, the viral horror phenomenon originating on YouTube, now being developed as a major feature film in partnership with A24, Atomic Monster, 21 Laps Entertainment, and Chernin Entertainment, currently under wraps and in post-production. He is also in pre-production on The Heretiks, directed by Gregg Bishop, producing the project alongside partners such as Blieberg Entertainment.
At the intersection of cinema and technology, Chris has emerged as a leading voice in AI-driven storytelling. While his early work in the space leaned toward high-concept spectacle, his creative evolution has centered on reclaiming narrative depth, emotional resonance, and human intimacy. He approaches generative AI not merely as an efficiency tool, but as a creative instrument that amplifies voice, vision, and vulnerability.
Chris is currently an AI filmmaking instructor and personal consultant at Arcana Labs’ Arcana Academy, where he mentors emerging filmmakers—particularly those from underrepresented backgrounds—in blending classical cinematic craft with next-generation tools. Whether developing studio-scale films or championing new voices, Chris remains committed to storytelling that is not only innovative, but honest, poetic, and fiercely human.
