About Event

When you click "Send," your wallet doesn't transfer money, it broadcasts a cryptographic signature directly to a global, ownerless network.

Join us for a deep dive into the inner workings of Bitcoin wallets! Whether you're a developer, a curious Bitcoiner, or someone wanting to understand what happens under the hood when you click "Send," this meetup is for you.

We will break down how wallets manage your secret keys, how transactions are constructed and signed, and how they navigate the mempool to reach finality on the blockchain.

AGENDA

  • Public vs. Private Keys: How cryptographic key pairs prove ownership.

  • Seed Phrases & HD Wallets: How 12 to 24 words can restore all your funds across multiple addresses.

  • Key Management Best Practices: Hot wallets vs. Cold storage and multisig setups.

  • UTXO Model: How Bitcoin tracks ownership using Unspent Transaction Outputs instead of balance accounts.

  • Transaction Anatomy: Inputs, Outputs, ScriptPubKey, and Digital Signatures.

  • Fee Estimation & RBF: Understanding mining fees and Replace-By-Fee (RBF) mechanics.

  • What is the Mempool?: How nodes receive, validate, and queue unconfirmed transactions.

  • Fee Rates & Priority: How miners select transactions based on satoshis per vByte (sat/vB).

  • Congestion & Confirmation: What happens during high-traffic periods and how to navigate stuck transactions.

WHO'S GUIDING

Led by Bitshala educators and open-source builders. Our sessions are led by active community members who build open-source tools, study the Bitcoin protocol, and advocate for transparent, open software.

WHAT TO EXPECT

  • Difficulty: Beginner level. Designed for absolute newcomers.

  • Zero Fluff: No sales pitches, no trading talk, and no corporate slides. Just pure peer-to-peer technical literacy.

IS THIS FOR YOU?

  • You are curious about how money and technology intersect.

  • You want to understand how Bitcoin works under the hood rather than follow market trends.

  • You prefer clear, logical explanations over complex jargon.

  • You enjoy asking foundational questions in a welcoming, hands-on environment.

Coding experience not required. Intellectual curiosity about peer-to-peer technology is.

You will leave this session with a clear, grounded understanding of how value travels from a local secret key to permanent block confirmation.

About Bitshala

Bitshala is a Bitcoin-focused education initiative where we help developers, designers, and curious builders learn by doing. We run cohorts, clubs, workshops, a hackerspace, and community programs that make it easier for people to explore, contribute to, and build on Bitcoin. Our focus is on hands-on learning, proof-of-work, and growing alongside a community of people who care about open technology, design, and the future of money.
