Workshops for the Planet: Community Day Autumn 2026
Join us for a welcoming, hands-on day focused on practical actions for everyday life.
This day is for anyone who cares about our common future and wants to do something but may not know where to start, or wants to reconnect with others who care too. Through interactive workshops, we explore how informed action can add up to meaningful change.
These aren't craft workshops with scissors and glue — they're serious, card-based facilitated group discussions designed to help you think through complex topics collaboratively. That said, don't let "serious" put you off: they're genuinely fun and engaging, built around conversation, not lectures.
You don't need prior knowledge. Just curiosity and openness.
Programme
You're welcome to join for session 1, session 2, or stay for the full day. Choose what works for you.
10:30–11:00 — Opening
11:00–14:00 — Session 1: Workshops (choose one)
Circular Economy Collage — explore how we shift from a take-make-waste economy to one built on reuse, regeneration, and circularity.
Ocean Collage — dive into the science of ocean systems and the threats they face, from warming seas to plastic pollution.
Agri Food Collage — unpack how our food system works, where it's breaking down, and what a more sustainable one could look like.
Climate Fresk — build a shared, science-based picture of climate change and its cascading effects, card by card.
Biodiversity Collage — trace the causes of biodiversity loss and why it's as urgent a crisis as climate change.
14:00–15:00 — Lunch break
No food facilities on site, bring your own or grab something nearby. A great chance to chat with fellow participants!
15:00–17:00 — Session 2: Workshops (choose one)
Biodiversity Collage Kids (new! for ages 9–14) — a version of the Biodiversity Collage adapted for younger participants; an adult should be present in the room and can join another workshop at the same time.
Living Soils — discover why healthy soil is a living, complex system, and why its collapse threatens far more than farming.
Generative AI Conundrum (new!) — a facilitated discussion on the environmental and societal trade-offs of generative AI.
En-ROADS: Climate Solutions (new!) — use an interactive climate simulator to test real policy and technology levers against global warming.
17:00–17:30 — Closing
Cost & Donations
The event is free and organised by volunteers. Donations to cover costs are warmly encouraged via Open Collective.
Cancellation & No-Show Policy
Each workshop needs a minimum number of participants, so please cancel at least 48 hours in advance if your plans change. It keeps things fair for everyone else.
