The Good Child Rewrite: From PeoplePleasing to Empowered Living
The “good Vietnamese child” archetype has deep cultural roots: be respectful, self-sacrificing, high-achieving, and emotionally restrained. While this archetype can help families survive hardship, it can also lead to burnout, people-pleasing, and disconnection from one’s needs. Drawing on trauma research, schema therapy, and boundary-setting science, this session helps participants understand how the good child identity formed, how it shapes them as leaders & communicators, and how to transform it. Through guided reflection, communication practice, and self-compassion work, participants learn to honour their younger selves while stepping into a more balanced, empowered adulthood.
