Fireside Chat & AMA with Andy Bowman, Jupiter Power

The opportunity for US battery energy storage is massive - but so is the uncertainty surrounding it. Interconnection queues are clogged, tariff confusion is rewriting capex assumptions, and the revenue stack varies wildly from state to state (and sometimes even node to node).

Andy Bowman built Jupiter Power in Texas, home to America’s largest merchant battery market. He’s in New York for Climate Week, and we’ve got him for one evening: a deliberately small room, designed for real conversation and insights.

Quentin Scrimshire, Modo Energy’s CEO and co-founder, hosts the conversation at our New York office on Tuesday 22 September.

Between them, they’ll be exploring:

  • Grid connections: Interconnection queues are the industry’s biggest bottleneck. Andy’s called them “a mess across the country”. But how does Jupiter Power navigate this in practice? And can storage start to ease the congestion - rather than adding to it?

  • Tariffs and capex: What does a battery project pencil to now? Jupiter has already locked in 2.4 GWh of domestic-content-qualified supply, through a deal with Energy Vault. Understand where costs are heading - based on real closed deals.

  • Revenue and offtake: Trading strategies look completely different in every market. Jupiter Power’s early ERCOT projects ran on merchant ancillary revenue, before those prices fell. Then there’s Resource Adequacy contracts in California, and capacity opportunities in PJM. So, where are the best risk-adjusted bets?

Who should come: This conversation is for the people building, financing, or trading in the US battery market - across any of the major ISOs.

What to expect: A fireside chat and open Q&A on grid connections, tariffs, and revenue strategy - followed by networking and drinks. Space is limited. This one’s by invitation.

Tuesday 22 September, evening, Modo Energy’s New York office.
