Moʻokuapā

​Join us at Heʻeia Fishpond for a historic day as we complete the restoration of our kuapā (fishpond wall)!!

​This event is a community volunteer workday open to everyone. Please come prepared to participate in our workday, get dirty, enjoy a fishpond-sourced lunch, and contribute to the 800 year history of Heʻeia Fishpond.

​The hana (work) will include passing chunks and buckets of coral, spreading coral, removing invasive plants, planting native plants, and digging an auwai (water channel) into the fishpond.

​Participants should bring: TABIS or close-toed SHOES (no crocs), gloves, water bottle, hat, sunscreen/sun protection, and clothes to work in that you don't mind getting dirty (rash guard, shorts). *Important* Please remember to bring a backpack to keep your belongings safe and your hands free.

​Optional - Bring 5 feet of a twisted/braided lei made of natural cordage like lāʻī (ti-leaf), hau, or hala root. The lei can be as simple or complex as youʻd like. Our intention is to wrap the ENTIRE 1.3 mile long fishpond wall with our collective lei. Make as much lei as you like and get your friends and family in on it too!
