About Event

Join us for round 2 of the SF meetup for DuckDB and MotherDuck users! You’ll hear in depth talks and get to meet some fun folks. There may be a few duck-themed items around as well… Be sure to bring your questions!

Talks:

Toby Oyetoke (Co-Founder at Bitpowr Technologies) Building OpenDuck: Distributed DuckDB with Dual Execution Toby has extended DuckDB to store data incrementally on cloud storage, as well as to execute queries both locally and remotely. He will share his experience building OpenDuck: his design decisions, goals for the project, and more!

Alex Monahan (MotherDuck, Co-Author of DuckLake - The Definitive Guide) DuckLake 1.0: The Easiest (and Fastest!) Data Lakehouse As you are building, there is a constant balance: prepare to scale or avoid premature optimization? DuckLake is a great middle ground. Handle 100’s of TBs of data with low latency that both humans and AI agents love, but get started with as little as 2 SQL commands. DuckLake brings many of the innovations from Iceberg and Delta like time travel and schema evolution, but is a clean slate design that is dramatically simpler. Store your data in parquet files on low cost object storage, manage your metadata and catalog in rock solid Postgres, and run queries with DuckDB. “Boring Tech” in the best way! Side effects may include 10x faster queries and 10x more transactions per second…

Food and drinks provided, plus some Duck swag of course!

Join us - let’s build with Ducks!
