DuckDB and MotherDuck users, we're back for May. Come hang, hear what people are building, and grab a drink with us.

Talks

Philip Moore is the founder of GizmoData
GizmoSQL: DuckDB, Anywhere You Want It

DuckDB is great in-process, but real workloads eventually need a server — shared state, remote clients, concurrent AI agents. GizmoSQL is that server: a lightweight, statically compiled SQL engine that wraps DuckDB with Apache Arrow Flight SQL, delivering 1 TB TPC-H in under two minutes for pennies, at ~90% lower cost than traditional cloud warehouses.

In this 15–20 minute session, I'll cover what GizmoSQL is, the breadth of where it runs — on-prem, in your VPC, on Kubernetes, even on an iPhone — and finish with one focused live demo.

Emil Sadek is the Senior Technical Account Manager at Columnar
Using ADBC with DuckDB

You will learn:

  • Understanding ADBC

  • Installing ADBC drivers with dbc

  • Using ADBC with DuckDB and other databases

Eddie Tejeda is co-founder and CTO at Hotdata
Bringing DuckLake to DataFusion

DuckLake is a simple, elegant lakehouse catalog, but Hotdata needed it inside a query engine we could deeply customize — planning, execution, caching, indexing, and agent-created contexts. So we ported DuckLake to Apache DataFusion, combining DuckLake’s lightweight metadata and snapshot model with DataFusion’s hackable, Arrow-native execution engine.

This also brings two of the most important query engine communities closer together: DuckDB and DataFusion, which are both reshaping how developers think about lakehouse systems, and the future of query execution.

In this 10 minute session, I’ll cover why DuckLake fits Hotdata, why we brought it to DataFusion, and finish with a focused look at how this gives us the foundation for agentic workloads.

May's edition is co-hosted by our friends at Greybeam!

Food, drinks, and some merch of course!

About MotherDuck

MotherDuck is a cloud data warehouse built on DuckDB.

It brings DuckDB’s fast analytical engine to a serverless cloud environment, helping teams query, share, and analyze data without managing infrastructure.

About Greybeam

Greybeam is a multi-engine data platform that helps teams execute Snowflake workloads on DuckDB.

Greybeam provides end-to-end infrastructure that routes, translates, and executes analytical Snowflake workloads on DuckDB without migration or code changes.
