MotherDuck + DuckDB June Meetup
Join us for a special edition of our MotherDuck + DuckDB meetup at our event space "The Dive"! Hear some talks and meet good folks. If you are new to DuckDB or you are a power user, we have you covered. This month, AI is also at the heart of both topics.
Talks
Agents, Streaming Data and ETL with DuckLake - Hoyt Emerson, Founder at Early Signal
DuckLake is a lakehouse architecture designed to provide advanced data management features without the operational complexity of traditional systems. This talk demonstrates practical workflows using DuckLake, including streaming ingestion, ETL pipelines, and agent-driven workloads. Attendees will learn how DuckLake simplifies modern analytical infrastructure while maintaining flexibility and performance across real-world data engineering tasks.
We'll be:
Running a CLI tool that streams inserts to a local DuckLake instance
Running a simple dbt pipeline on the the DuckLake table
Leverage agents to run the streaming service and eval the pipeline output
Contributing Claude Constructed C++ Code Courteously - Alex Monahan, Developer Advocate at MotherDuck
Do you have a feature request for DuckDB? Did you find a bug? We will talk through how to contribute back using AI, even if you are not a C++ expert. Alex is still new to C++, but has contributed multiple PRs totaling over 500 lines of C++ to DuckLake.
We will cover practical steps for making your contribution more robust and easier to review with advice for robots and humans alike! There will be concrete context to share with your agent of choice, but also ways that you can understand the code base more deeply over time.
If you want to share something more domain specific, DuckDB extensions are also a great way to lift up the community. You’ll leave knowing how to take that approach as well.
We are looking forward to seeing you there!
