On August 26, 2026, #StartupSouth in collaboration with the Abia State Government through the Ministry of Science, Technolgy and Innovation and Abia Public Private Partnership & Investment Promotions Office will convene a select gathering of business leaders, accomplished professionals, investors, corporate executives, diaspora leaders and ecosystem stakeholders for the Abia Startup & Angel Investment Summit in Aba.
Theme: Unlocking Local Capital for High-Growth Startups.
This is not another startup conference.
It is a one-day gathering designed to begin building something that can outlive the event itself: a stronger culture and infrastructure for experienced Abians to discover, evaluate and back promising high-growth businesses.
As Abia marks 35 years since its creation, the Summit asks a forward-looking question: who will back the businesses that could define the State’s next generation of growth?
In One Purposeful Day
Participants will:
Get a practical introduction to Angel Investing and how private individuals can participate without becoming venture capitalists.
Meet and engage directly with selected high-potential startups and founders.
Tour the startup exhibition at the Abia Export Growth Lab and see some of the businesses being built from Abia.
Hear perspectives from experienced investors, business leaders and ecosystem stakeholders.
Watch selected startups present opportunities to an investor-focused audience.
Witness the formal unveiling of the Abia Startup Investors Network — a platform designed to connect interested investors with credible startup opportunities on a deal-by-deal basis.
Connect with other professionals and business leaders interested in putting capital, experience, networks and market access behind promising ventures.
And the journey does not end on August 26.
Interested participants and members of the Network will subsequently have access to deeper virtual Angel Investment learning and engagement sessions, providing the knowledge and support required to move from interest to informed participation.
