PEF Sydney Lunch: Buy, Don't Build: Acquiring Cash-Flowing Businesses and Transforming Them with AI
A 90-minute PEF Sydney lunch with Benjamin Plummer, Founder and CEO of Dragonfly.
Post-exit founders keep asking the same question. What next. Most people who want to use AI start another company from scratch. Ben's move is the opposite. Buy a cash-flowing business. Bring in talent and technology the target could never build itself. Own the transformation, rather than selling software for cents on the dollar.
This is one of the strongest founder moves in 2026. Most people never make it because they do not know how.
Benjamin grew up in Sydney and spent about 15 years in the US. He worked a decade at Bridgewater Associates with Ray Dalio, then ran Invisible Technologies as CEO, growing it to about $200M in revenue while serving OpenAI, Google, Amazon, Microsoft, Nvidia, Apple, and Meta. He came home and started Dragonfly, an AI-native holding company that acquires people-intensive services businesses and rebuilds them with AI.
The conversation will focus on:
- how to identify the right target
- how to structure a deal without overpaying
- how to access outside acquisition capital
- how to use an acquisition to solve a business problem rather than create a new one
Come ready to eat, listen, and ask the questions you would ask a peer already doing the work.
PEF members. Lunch provided. No pitch. No decks.
