Cursor Hackathon East Ethiopia

​EAST Ethiopia Cursor Hackathon 2026 is a two day hackathon taking place on March 27–28, 2026, hosted by Haramaya University. This multi-university hackathon brings together student developers from Dire Dawa University, Haramaya University, Harar Development Center, American Corner, Oda Bultum University, and Jigjiga University. Participants will collaborate to design and build innovative, startup-focused digital solutions using Cursor.

​Over the course of the event, teams will create fully functional prototypes using the Cursor, incorporating digital payment functionality to qualify for final pitching and prizes. The hackathon features mentorship and technical guidance, culminating in a live demo and award ceremony. No need to form a team ahead of time, teams will be randomly assigned at the start of the event.

Projects will be evaluated on innovation, technical execution, impact, and quality of the project, with the goal of producing startup-ready solutions, fostering regional collaboration, and increasing engagement with digital financial tools.
